SEAS Scholars Program and Scholarship
2024 Cohort
About the Program
The Southern University Engineering Alumni Society (SEAS) Scholars program is a four-year scholarship initiative developed to increase the number of career ready engineers graduating from Southern University. At its core, it is a cohort of high academic achieving students who matriculate together. Our premise: When like -minded students work closely together, positive peer pressure will produce outstanding outcomes. Highlights include:
- Alumni Mentorship – A support network of Southern University engineering alumni professionals will provide mentoring for each student throughout their experience at Southern University. Mentors and mentees are matched based on background, interests, and goals. The typical mentor will have earned an engineering degree from Southern University. The mentoring commitment will last for the duration of the student’s matriculation.
- SEAS Annual Engineering Reunion – The SEAS Annual Experience is conducted to bring together scholars, engineering alumni, companies, and the community for a fun and educational experience.
- Ongoing Professional Development Activities and Academic Support.
SEAS Scholarships
The primary goal of the initiative is to increase diversity among future leaders in technology and engineering by creating a proven pipeline of talent. Southern is uniquely positioned for the task of having graduated more than 6000 engineers since its inception in 1956.
